Whitby Council announce details of this year’s official Yorkshire Day Civic Celebration.

Summer is fast approaching, and attention is turning to our very important Yorkshire Day event in Whitby on 1st August.

One of the real benefits of Society membership is the invitation to join Civic Leaders from across the County to celebrate this important date in the calendar.

This year’s event is in Whitby for good reason, coinciding with Captain Cook – one of Yorkshire’s most famous son’s – first arrival in New Zealand 250 years ago, and we are pleased to be able to add to the town’s celebrations of this historic event.

The day’s proceedings are as follows:

08.15 – 09.15  Guests park in the Marin Car Park and take short walk to The Star Inn the Harbour.

08.30 – 09.45  Breakfast reception and Robing – The Star Inn the Harbour.

10.15  Shuttle buses will transport guests to St Hilda’s Church.

10.45  Yorkshire Day Service in St Hilda’s Church.

Following the service, the shuttle buses will transport the guests to Church Street for the start of the Civic Procession.

12.15  Parade departs.

12.45  Pre-lunch reception at the Dock End marquee.

13.15  Lunch.

16.15  Depart.
