Fundraising for Yorkshire

The people of Yorkshire are known for their community spirit and their willingness to look out for each other. The same goes for the members and supporters of The Yorkshire Society and this fellowship invariably motivates a positive response to any fundraising activity we undertake.

Although not a charity, The Yorkshire Society is charitable and so, through our own events or bespoke projects for the task, we raise money for charities and good causes in Yorkshire when we can. The Yorkshire Society is believed to have raised over £300,000 since it was established, in 1980.

Our annual Yorkshire Awards and Gala Dinner event, started in 1989 and now established as Yorkshire’s most prestigious award, is estimated to have raised over £300k to date, which has all been donated to the nominated charities adopted each year.

We also come up with novel ideas for particular causes, like the new Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease. In collaboration with Leeds Hospitals Charity, we developed a plan to sell limited edition prints of a portrait commissioned by the Society for the centre. Not only did the Society provide the centre with a wonderful portrait of Riob Burrow CBE and Kevin Sinfield CBE entitled ‘Brothers in Arms’, but sales of print copies could raise around £100k for Leeds Hospitals Charity and Motor Neurone Disease Association too.

There’s no end of the ways the Society can, and does, fundraise and we are happy to hear from any Yorkshire charity or good cause that thinks we can help them.
