Normally, at this time of year, plans would be well under way for the year’s Yorkshire Awards Gala Dinner – the fantastic evening when Yorkshire’s most prestigeous awards celebrate those who have had the biggest impact on Yorkshire life.
Covid-19 has hit the plans of such events and the Yorkshire Awards is not immune to its effects. Although the Yorkshire Awards Gala Dinner was due to be held in March 2021, it is clear – even now – that this will not be possible.
Alternative options have been considered, including cancellation and holding a virtual event online. But it was felt that an unbroken run of 31 years, culminating in the amazing night we experienced at the 31st Yorkshire Awards Gala Dinner earlier this year, before the first lockdown, should not be interupted and so a postponment of the live event has been decided by the organisers, The Yorkshire Society, and the main sponsors. A date, probably in the Summer or early Autumn of 2021 is anticipated.
Nominations are still be accepted and the deadline is 31st December 2020. You can nominate someone for any of the nice award categories here.
Now that a vaccination is about to start, it is hoped that large scale events will be allowed sooner rather than later next year. Once the situation changes and confidence returns we will decide a date and members of The Yorkshire Society will have the opportunity to reserve tickets.
