The sound of church bells ringing across Yorkshire is something that has been missing during the Covid-19 pandemic. Bell ringers have been unable to meet due to the social distancing rules but now the restrictions are relaxing the bells are able to be rung again.

RING A BELL ON YORKSHIRE DAY

There are over 300 church towers in Yorkshire with bells and the Yorkshire Accociation of Change Ringers have arranged for some of them to open to the public on Sunday 1st August to allow visitors to see what happens inside the tower and talk to the people who ring the bells. Visitors will be given a guided tour of their local tower, they are all different, and where possible will be given a chance to ring a bell, under supervision of course.
