This year marks the 40th anniversary of The Yorkshire Society.
Started in 1980 it set out to protect and promote the Yorkshire name and has done so, uninterupted, ever since. Now in its 40th year, the Society has undergone a number of evolutionary steps, the most recent in 2018 with a new Chairman and Executive who have broadened its remit and its appeal. As a result, the Society is increasingly active and can boast a growing membership now counted in thousands not hundreds.
The Yorkshire Society still ‘protects’ the Yorkshire name and is the only not-for-profit organisation that welcomes anyone who loves God’s own County, whether born here or not, and works for the greater good of the County as a whole.
We will be celebrating our 40th year with some special events and surprises for members so watch out for the notices on which you will be seeing a specially adapted version of our logo.
To anyone and everyone who has helped the Society to survive and thrive, since it started in 1980 until today, and to all those who will ensure it continues and grows from strength to strength, a big THANK YOU.
