Join us for a guided walk to Simon’s Seat.
April 28, 2019 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pmFree
A reasonable level of fitness is required for this walk as there is a slow and gradual climb up to Simon’s Seat. But the effort will be well worth it!
The walk will take us away from the Pavilion Cafe in the grounds of the Bolton Abbey Estate and on to Posforth Falls and the Valley of Desolation before reaching Barden Fell. After a slow climb to the summit we will enjoy the views of Wharfedale from Simon’s Seat before descending the fell to the valley bottom where we will follow the River Wharfe to Barden Bridge and back to the Bolton Abbey Estate.
The walk is varied and very beautiful taking us through woodland, moorland and riverside footpaths. The view from Simon’s Seat, an impressive gritstone outcrop is not to be missed!
A map will be given to you at the start of the walk should you wish to walk at a slower/faster pace to the rest of the group.
Please ensure you bring a pack-up and plenty of water to keep you hydrated! Refreshments will also be available at the café at the start/finish. Remember to bring waterproofs and warm clothing to ensure you stay dry and comfortable. Sturdy boots are essential due to uneven surfaces.
Please also indicate any health problems i.e. diabetes, epilepsy etc. at time of booking.
