Spare Hands in concert for Yorkshire Heritage in Hull

May 11 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

As part of the Yorkshire Society’s Yorkshire Heritage Summit taking place in Hull, the Society is proud to present a special evening of popular maritime folk music and sea shanties – mainly from Hull and the East Yorkshire coast, reflecting the city’s long fishing and seafaring heritage – by local band SPARE HANDS.

The event will take place in The Sail Loft above the historic Sailmakers Arms Inn, in the High Street, in the heart of Hull’s Old Town – six minutes’ walk from Hull Minster and close to the Museum Quarter.

A great selection of food and drink is on offer from the paid bar.

Spare Hands are Hull’s foremost maritime folk band.  The group consists of five singers/musicians who have been playing together on the local folk scene for many years in different combinations. The Group formed as a Yorkshire Garland project to provide recordings for Hull Maritime Museum. They specialise in local maritime and waterways songs and are currently recording their fourth and fifth albums. For further details of their work and their recordings see http://sparehands.org.

Because of space limitations, tickets are strictly limited and early booking is advised.  We must also point out that owing to the nature of the listed building, no lift is available to access The Sail Loft on the second floor, and access to the event room is by broad staircase only.

There are a strictly limited number of tickets, available on a first-come-first-served basis via eventbrite at just £5pp (small booking fee applies).
