Back in April the Society created a new group for Yorkshire women in business. The response and interest has been excellent and next month, just 5 months later, the group’s members will gather at the first of what will be an annual conference.

INTRODUCING THE GROUP’S NEW MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

We are pleased to introduce you to our new Management Committee. Information has been circulated on our social media platforms as well as our new LinkedIn page (add link here) to share the breadth of skill, experience and enthusiasm these ladies have in driving the Yorkshire Women in Business Group forwards, to support, connect and inspire the women of Yorkshire.

We are looking forward to developing a series of events and networking opportunities to support Women in Business across the whole of Yorkshire.

LAUNCH OF OUR FIRST CONFERENCE AND NETWORKING EVENT

We are excited to be bringing our first event to you in Leeds on 12^th September. The event is FREE to members and tickets are available via Eventbrite HERE. We can’t wait to meet you.

The event runs alongside the Society’s Yorkshire Business Fair, an expo for businesses across Yorkshire so it’s going to be a busy day.

Yorkshire Day Celebrations – Sarah Loftus Managing Director, Make it York

As tradition dictates the format of this unique event, York hosted this year with the start of the day beginning with a breakfast gathering, followed by a vibrant street parade. Yorkshire’s Mayors, in their robes and chains of office, along with their attendants, other civic leaders, VIPs, and members of the Society, marched to a special thanksgiving service in York Minster.

We also launched  the Yorkshire Day, York Trailblazers trail – we are celebrating the incredible people that have shaped York’s history. The sculptures of the tansy beetles are dotted around the city so people can learn more about these trailblazers. We also held a 4-day Yorkshire Market, courtesy of Little Bird Artisan Market.

The Julie Chipchase Coaching Legacy – Helen Weeks Founder HW Coaching, Flourish & Evolve

Helen was privileged enough to be invited as a guest by Michelle Slater (Previously Jackson) a former Lioness to join her, family and friends at the Julie Chipchase memorial football game at the Eco-Power Stadium Doncaster on Sunday 4^th August. “It was great to be part of such a really special celebration, the launch of the Julie Chipchase Coaching Legacy.”

The JC Coaching Legacy has been created to provide financial support to aspiring female coaches who want to develop their skills through certified FA licences. This will enable the womens’ game to continue to grow with more female coaches in place at both grassroots and the highest level of the game.

Helen met:

• Sheila Edmunds the founder member of the Doncaster Belles, 13 FA Cup appearances, six FA Cup wins, an honorary doctorate, FA Lifetime Achievement Award and a FA 50 years’ Service Award……a lovely, grounded down to earth lady.
• Gill Coulthard MBE the first woman to have reached 100 England caps, Lucy Pearson the new Head of Education for the FA with overall responsibility for coach education and professional development program, Stacey Copeland an ex-Belles player who cycled to raise money for the Julie Chipchase Coaching Legacy.
• Sue Smith who you will have seen on Sky Sports and co-commentator on EA Sports FC24. She made her debut for England at 17 and made 93 caps for England and Stacey Copeland.

What an amazing bunch of people shaping and inspiring the future generations of womens’ football.

“Connections, friendships, shared experiences, teamwork and genuine support of one another goes such a long way…..as does kindness. It’s great to see so much support for girls and women in football. I have no doubt that Julie’s legacy will live on well into the future to support and inspire the next generation of girls and women in football”.

There was an overwhelming buzz of excitement in the room, coupled with a wealth of knowledge, skill, shared experiences and stories. When people spoke about their footballing experiences they referenced; friendships, connections, mentors, support and most of all kindness”. This really resonated with Helen, especially on the build up to the Yorkshire Women in Business event on 12^th September. The theme of which is based around connections, shared experiences, enabling women to feel Incredible, Invincible and Inspirational!
