Sales of portrait capturing touching moment between Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield raises funds for MND charities

The Yorkshire Society have commissioned a portrait of Rob Burrow CBE and Kev Sinfield CBE by 2019 Portrait Artist of the Year, Duncan Shoosmith.

Shoosmith, captures a special moment between the friends and former teammates Sinfield and Burrow in his portrait called ‘Brothers in Arms.’ The original portrait will be donated to the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease when it opens, as a tribute to their inspirational friendship. In honour of Rob Burrow’s shirt number, 7777 copies of the portrait have been created in three limited editions to raise funds for Leeds Hospitals Charity and the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).

Kevin Sinfield CBE said: “It’s hard to put into words just how much this painting means to us all. It shows a moment on the pitch but also demonstrates how much Rob and his family mean to all of us.

“It will be the perfect painting to have on display at the Rob Burrow Centre for MND and will inspire us to keep on banging the drum for people living with MND and everyone affected by this devastating disease.”

Duncan Shoosmith said: “I was honoured when The Yorkshire Society asked me to create this iconic portrait of Kevin and Rob, as an everlasting reminder of the power of friendship.”

“I work from the outside in, so I felt overwhelmed with emotion when I was finishing the portrait and began to weep as the final part I completed was Rob’s face, which was right in the centre.”

The prints are on sale through The Yorkshire Society’s website, where the public can choose to purchase one 700 artist’s editions of the print, individually numbered and signed by Shoosmith, or one of just 77 very special prints also signed by Kevin Sinfield.
