We had a small but very successful joint event with our corporate members RFCA for Yorkshire and the Humber on 26th March.

RFCA Yorkshire work to ensure the reserve forces and cadets thrive across our region by building enduring relationships between the military and local communities, and the Society is proud to support their efforts.

A feature of the event was the Society’s official signing of the Armed Forces Covenant, confirming our commitment to help and support ex-armed forces personnel. Who better, we thought, than Friend for Life member, Col (retired) Stephen Padgett OBE, to sign the covenant on behalf of The Yorkshire Society together with serving officer Col Darin Gray, Assistant Head, Strategy Reserve Forces and Cadets.

Col Padgett said, “I was delighted to represent The Yorkshire Society and sign the Armed Forces Covenant on its behalf.  The Society is an influential body, that is engaged throughout Yorkshire with businesses and across public, civic, charity and educational sectors.  It will play an important, valuable role in helping to ensure that military personnel, their families, veterans and reservists are not disadvantaged as a consequence of their service to our Nation.”

We will be talking with Stephen in due course about what the Society can do to help our friends from the armed forces.
