Members of The Yorkshire Society visited the Northern Racing College in Doncaster on 19th September. The College is one of only two facilities in the U.K. to train staff to work in all aspects of the Racing Industry.

The visit began with a very entertaining and informative talk by Colonel Stephen Padgett, CEO of the College. He explained about the huge variety of courses available to students of all ages and the measures in place to ensure that no student was excluded from applying for a course because of financial or social circumstances.  This was followed by a tour of the facilities, conducted by Philippa Bonham.

We saw students learning riding techniques on simulators, visited the stables and then watched students being put through their paces out on the gallops.  The morning concluded with a delicious lunch in the staff restaurant.

The Society wishes to extend its thanks to Northern Racing College for a wonderful visit.
