We are very pleased and proud to report that a garden designed and created by our Vice President, Mark Gregory, has been voted the RHS Chelsea Flower Show ‘Garden of the Decade’ by BBC viewers.
Commissioned by Welcome to Yorkshire, the garden was inspired by the Yorkshire Dales and took the highest honour of gold and the coveted People’s Choice Award at the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2018.
With ten gardens to choose from, two of which were created by Mark and three represented Yorkshire, it was his slice of life in Wensleydale, complete with such details as a cowpat, birds nest and sheep’s wool caught on a fence that convinced viewers across the nation, including the people of Yorkshire no doubt – many of them Society members – to vote for it.
Mark followed up his 2018 gold winning garden with the 2019 gold winner too, and was hoping to do the treble this year until the coronavirus pandemic, which caused the cancellation of the world-famous show, denied him.
Mark has sent members of The Yorkshire Society a personal message about the win in a short video message, and you can CLICK HERE TO WATCH IT.
